Cemberlitas: Column of Constantine and Many More

Cemberlitas is a neigbourhood at Fatih. Its confines aren't definite. It is next to Sultanahmet and only a few minute walk away. This is enough for you to remember.

Sights


Cemberlitas Column (Column of Constantine ): The most important thing, so important that it gave the neighbourhood its name is this column. It consists of 8 blocks, each 3 tons and surrounded with metal rings. It was erected by the order of Emperor Constantine I around AC 330's on the hill that is today called Cemberlitas.

Atik Ali Pasha Mosque: The mosque of which great shot you can take together with Cemberlitas Column. It is made in 1496. It has many names other than this: Sedefciler Mosque, Eski Ali Pasha Mosque, Cemberlitas Mosque, Dikilitas Mosque, Vezirhani Mosque and Sandikciler Mosque.

Atik Ali Pasha Kulliyesi (traditional social complex): Besides its historical importance, it is a nice traditional tea house where you can sip your tea or coffee, and chat with your friends, or read your book. The unknown tomb of the social complex is just on the street.


How to get to Cemberlitas


It is easy to get to Cemberlitas. T1 (Kabatas-Bagcilar) tram has a Cemberlitas stop. You can also walk from Sultanahmet. If you like walking and you are staying at Aksaray, Laleli or Beyazit, you can also walk back from there. In anyway, don't forget to prepare your

Cemberlitas hotels are usually mentioned together with Sultanahmet hotels. The restaurants are also like continuation of the ones at Sultanahmet. You can try traditional food.
